The Hong Kong LGBT Medical Society (the Society) is conducting a comprehensive needs assessment for promoting LGBTQ health and well-being in Hong Kong.

The questions being explored include:

• What is LGBTQ Health and Well-being? Why does it matter? How do we promote it in Hong Kong?

• What are the health disparities between LGBTQ+ community and the general public? What are the underlying factors?

• What are the policy recommendations and research gaps?

About the assessment

The needs assessment adopts a combination of approaches:

Epidemiological

• Focused literature review on global and local LGBTQ health

• Review of local evidence from various sources, highlighting the strengths, weaknesses and evidence gaps

Comparative

• Review of overseas LGBTQ health promotion initiatives, including trainings for health professionals

Corporate

• Results from focus group and Delphi studies

• Results from local behavioral surveys

• Results from public consultation processes

As health / healthcare professionals or students in Hong Kong (who identify as belonging to the LGBTQ+ community)

• Sign up to participate in our focus group study or one-on-one Zoom interview

As civil society groups serving the LGBTQ+ community in Hong Kong

• Fill out this short questionnaire to share insights and empirical evidence from your organisation, and be acknowledged in the report

• Participate in our Delphi study (details available soon)

As academia / think tanks which conduct research

• Share your research results, and be referenced in the report
